"Copa Baja California"
Sportfishing Championship
The State of Baja California invites you to this summer's “Copa Baja” (Baja Cup) tournament. Please mark your calendars for the following dates:
past tournaments
The cost for participants per tournament is $600 Mexican pesos for adults and $200 Mexican pesos for children under 12 years old. The tournament has 2 categories:
SURFACE - yellowfin tuna, big eye, albacore, marlin, mahi mahi, yellowtail, pacific sierra and sea bass.
BOTTOM - All species except rays, sharks and other prohibited species.
The winners will be anglers that present the heaviest fish for each category. Prizes will be given in two categories (surface and bottom) and paid in money and in-kind until the 5th place. The grand finale adds up points on each of the four tournaments and selects 3 winners for a prize up to $35,000 pesos, trophy, and certificate. In addition, there will be raffles and surprise gifts, such as sportfishing accessories and gear, for all the participants.
2014 and 2015 tournaments were a great success! The Secretary of Fisheries and Aquaculture in Baja California (SEPESCABC) is getting ready for the upcoming competitions programed in San Felipe, San Luis Gonzaga, Bahia de los Angeles, San Quintin and Ensenada.
The objective of these events is to offer quaility tournaments to fishermen while contributing to local economy.

Known as "Armadores Unidos de Pesca Deportiva de Ensenada", the local fishing association will be happy to take you and your family/friends fishing! Whether you plan on fishing around the bay or target tuna, individual tickets and charters are available. Their fleet includes boats up to 65 feet, and schedules trips from 8 hours to 2-3 days.

Cedros Adventures was the 1st fishing resort established on Cedros Island. Founded by two pilots (tuna spotting pilots) Adrian Ojeda and Tom Greene, their vision of creating an American-styled resort on Mexican soil became a reality.
